NAUTICAL INSURANCE: A SEA OF OPPORTUNITIES THAT IS LITTLE EXPLORED

products on display, we were able to observe the business opportunities that this market - which has been breaking revenue records in recent years - offers.
Working in the area of #insurancelaw for two decades, we immediately thought about the importance of insurance for this characteristic consumer profile, which invests a lot in recreational boats (leisure or sport).
From an empirical analysis, carried out based on several nautical accidents in which we work (fires, shipwrecks, electrical damage, damage during boating and collision), we observed that the Brazilian insurance market has managed, year after year, to map and better understand this consumer characteristic, who demands speed in resolving problems and who does not want to be bothered by bureaucracy (after all, who does?).
We have seen that insurance companies are investing in offering digital channels for agile, personalized and integrated contracting. Claim adjustments have also been completed increasingly quickly, allowing settlement (when applicable) in a very reasonable time.
And from this experience – professional and personal –, we thought that the market could structure products that were priced based on so-called “use policies”, which would allow the offering of insurance with coverage that is increasingly suited to the specificities of each insured person. For example: a differentiated rate for vessels kept in “dry spaces”, and not moored in marinas, when they are not in use (a precaution that not all owners take).
The adoption of this model, widely disseminated in Brazilian insurance culture thanks to the profile clause in car insurance, in addition to being an intelligent solution for satisfying demanding consumers, will result in an increase in the volume of insurance sold, and in encouraging behaviors that will reduce accident rates. .o to attract more visitors!
